Turbines

Dry but cold today so I pulled the top off and went for a quick drive and took this picture. Next up is the carbs, boy they need attention. And a new thermostat tower top plate with new cap. It seems to spring a leak upon warm up.

Time to switch wheels

I had Tom over in his 68 2000 roadster and we swapped out our wheels. Tom likes the wet spaghetti look I guess;-)

I enjoy the turbines. Classic. I also have a set of stock steel wheels with hub caps arriving soon. I'll be playing around with that set by adding a fat tire like a 215-65-14 and putting on the white wall trims. It should look sick!

Lowered the front

And had Tom come by to show me how to adjust the SU carbs. Went for a short spin around the block before it started to rain. I can't wait till spring. She goes fast, very surprising for a stock 1600 engine.

All back together for now

I started her up for the first time and ran pretty smooth, until the front SU carb started to leak out the vent and stalled. I must have a stuck float. Crappy rims that came with the car will have to due until I can find some stock steel wheels or something more period to the car. I can't wait to drive the car, UGH! soon.

New cover

I picked up this great fitting tonneau cover on ebay for $35. I'll be picking up my wheels tommorrow, then getting ready to fire her up and see how she runs.

Finishing up the exhaust

Increased the pipe size to 2" except in the tunnel where I had to reduce it don't to 1 7/8". I picked up the header from Ebay for $16 but it was missing the flange. I simply welded on a new one.

New wheels next week.

Cheers,
